Makara Peak Mountain Bike Park is an award winning purpose built bike park set in 250 hectares of bird filled native bush.
Whether you're a walker, runner or mountain biker there's a track at Makara Peak for you.
The Makara Peak Supporters were established in 1998 to plan and oversee the development of the park and to help restore native forest. Our aim is to create a world-class mountain bike park with dual use (cycling and walking) tracks for all skill levels, in restored native forest.
Makara Peak's annual fundraising auction held on Friday 26 August 2016 was once again a huge success. Thanks to auctioneer Fraser McMaster and organiser Simon Morton, and all the generous sponsors listed below, over $4000 was raised for Makara Peak track development and maintenance. With volunteer support, the Makara Peak Supporters can make this money go a very long way...on sweet singletrack, naturally.
Makara Peak is not just a mountain bike park, it is also a conservation park home to a variety of native plants and animals. The Park has 250 hectares of native bush at various stages of regeneration and makes up an important of Wellington’s Outer Green Belt.
